ASSOCIACIÓ VALÈNCIA
CAPITAL DEL DISSENY

ASSOCIACIÓ VALÈNCIA<br/>CAPITAL DEL DISSENY

The initiative to turn València into World Design Capital 2022 comes from the civil society, from a group of people (entrepreneurs, professionals and members of designers’ associations) that dreamt with the chance of Valencia becoming a world leader and they passed on this hope to companies and authorities that showed their support. This is the origin of the Associació València Capital del Disseny that started the whole process.

Objectives

Valencia World Design Capital 2022 aims to promote the activity and enhance the quality of this creative sector, making it the main agent for social change and urban innovation. The aim is to generate a whole series of initiatives that will project design beyond 2022, generating a legacy that will transcend and become established as a key value of local and national social fabric.

  • The didactics of design as a tool to improve processes in society.

    Design Didactics
  • To create, activate and facilitate links and collaborations between the design ecosystem and innovation, as well as to establish stable contacts with other disciplines or economic, social and cultural sectors that will transform society in the long term.

    Social transformation
  • To promote Spanish design, its professionals and companies, at international level. Furthermore, to inspire other cities to use design as a strategic tool to grow and prosper and generate an international network of cities that share best practices in innovative design.

    Internationalization
  • To assist and accompany the creation of strategies based on design to contribute to the sustainable and inclusive development of the region, improving the level of wellbeing and the quality of life of its citizens.

    Wellbeing
  • To generate a narrative shared by the three provinces of the Valencian Community around creativity and design, positioning us as a national focus point.

    Storytelling and regional cohesion
  • To build a closer relationship between professionals at the national level and improve the professional implementation of the design sector in society.

    Strengthening of the professional network
  • To ensure the blossoming of a design legacy in the appointed city that will be prolonged and remain after the conclusion of the twelve months as Design Capital.
