Add to calendar 04/22/22 06/26/22 Europe/Madrid EXHIBITION. “Design the Air” The fan is a useful object; it always produces air in an easy and sustainable way. It is functional, it folds up and can be stored in a small space, it can come in many sizes and made of different materials and its formal appearance can and should be connected with contemporary design and culture. The fan is a traditional piece in Valencian object memory. The exhibition shows that the alliance of design and the know-how of artisans can enrich the culture of the world of the fan and, in this spirit, reposition itself and project itself into the future. "Design the air" is an opportunity to show the humanistic dialogue between design, technology and craftsmanship. The exhibition brings together traditional materials such as mother-of-pearl, from cultivated oyster shells, made by craftsmen from Aldaia, one of the few and last workshops in Europe that manufactures it, together with fans made of plywood board of minimum thickness cut and fretworked with laser, others made of digitally printed fabrics, or of wood printed with innovative technologies or out of printers and bookbinders who also make fans by printing and folding paper. This is a project of Valencia World Design Capital 2022 with the support of the Diputació de València and València Turisme.
