Add to calendar 02/09/21 03/14/21 Europe/Madrid EXHIBITION. ‘Emergency! Designs against COVID-19’ at Madrid Design Festival

Curated by Teresa Bastardes and Rossend Casanova and promoted by the Design Museum of Barcelona, the exhibition “Emergency! Designs against COVID-19” is the result of a selection of the multiple initiatives from the world of design that have provided a rapid response to the urgent needs arising from the health and social crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Barcelona Design Museum has dedicated special attention to emergency designs in the field of protective equipment, machinery or graphics linked to communication and information campaigns, projects that will become part of the museum collection. With more than fifty initiatives, both public and private, the emphasis is on pieces such as the contributions in face masks made by the fashion designers Txell Miras, Josep Abril with Opisso and Miriam Ponsa; Filter Mask and Filter Tube, the fabric masks made from recycled plastic by the company BUFF, or Gracia Mask, the acetate face protection screen by Joan Ayguadé.

Outstanding in the graphics section are the posters for the project “Esto Pasará” (This too shall pass), the collaborative platform that includes the opinions of designers and activities based on art and design, which arose during the pandemic and is promoted by World Design Capital Valencia 2022.

“Emergency! Designs against COVID-19” is a project by the Barcelona Design Museum in collaboration with the Association of Industrial Design, ADI-FAD. This year, in parallel with the ADI awards, the call “ADI-Recognises, Emergency COVID” has been announced with the aim of offering inclusion, publicity and recognition to the initiatives that have been implemented in the light of the health crisis. The selection of projects and products of ADI-Recognises forms part of the exhibition.
