«Moble corbat valencià (1900-1936)» (“Valencian curved furniture (1900-1936)”) is an exhibition on furniture made in Valencia with the technique of curved wood previously heated with steam. This technique, developed by Michael Thonet and his sons (Thonet Brothers) in Vienna during the 19th century, was widely accepted throughout Europe and especially in Valencia, due to trade relations with Austria-Hungary, and it positively influenced the industrialization of our country and the design of furniture in those years.
The exhibition shows a selection of pieces, which belong to the Caixa Vinaròs Foundation, such as seesaws, chairs, hangers, beds, cots, and sinks, among other furniture, as well as a 1929 film from the factory of one of the most important furniture producers: Ventura Feliu, and his descendants. Altogether, this exhibition highlights a significant part of our industrial and cultural heritage of the first third of the 20th century.
