Whether in furniture design, fashion design, industrial design or interior design, women have made a crucial contribution to the development of modern design, both creatively and commercially. The exhibition «Women in Design 1900 – Today» explores the role of women designers over the past 120 years and tells a new story of design, with many voices, in the context of the struggle for equal rights and recognition.
On October 26, Susanne Graner (head of the Vitra Design Museum‘s collection and director of the museum’s conservation workshop) will introduce the exhibition at Àgora València, the nerve centre of creativity in the 2022 World Design Capital.
It will be followed by a round table moderated by the researcher and disseminator Marisa Santamaria with the presence of the Valencian designers Ana Segovia, Marisa Gallén, Eli Gutiérrez, Inma Bermúdez and Mariví Calvo on the evolution of the role of women in design internationally since the beginning of the last century until today.
