“Greetings from Parcs Naturals”, postcards to visualize the best Valencian landscape

The second edition of the campaign “Greetings from…” features the eight natural parks of the province of Valencia. “Greeting from Parcs Naturals” consists of a collage full of diversity formed from different interpretations of Valencian natural heritage through design and illustration.

This joint campaign has been promoted by the Diputació de València, Turisme València and the Associació València Capital del Disseny, in collaboration with the Associació de Professionals de la Il·lustració Valenciana (APIV) and with the coordination of the architect and illustrator Virginia Lorente.

“Greetings from Parcs Naturals” #greetingsfromvlc aims to recover one of the most beautiful customs of the holiday period, sending a travel postcard to friends and family, with the mission to value the natural areas of the region of Valencia. Thus, eight environments of great environmental value are captured from different illustrative styles in physical and digital postcards in order to create a Mediterranean landscape full of nuances and peculiarities.

“Share a walk, breathe fresh air, escape, disconnect in nature … The region of Valencia has a wealth of Natural Parks. Greetings from Parcs Naturals is a tribute to all that variety; but also to the potential of illustration to rediscover it, as well as to the creative figures who have been part of this new edition of the project,” says Virginia Lorente, director of the initiative.

As a result of a call for projects, illustrators from the Comunitat Valenciana have put their creativity at the service of the representation of eight natural parks: the Natural Park of Puebla San Miguel (Julio Antonio Blasco, Sr. López), the Natural Park of Hoces del Cabriel (Xulia Vicente), the Natural Park of Chera-Sot de Chera (Alba García), the Natural Park of Túria (Juan Bernabeu), the Natural Park of Serra de la Calderona (Cristian Eres), the Natural Park of l’Albufera (Irene Pérez), the Natural Park of Marjal de Pego and Oliva (Luis Galbis), and the Natural Park of Sierra de Mariola (Patricia Bolinches).

The “Greetings from Parcs Naturals” campaign has a website from which it is possible to send postcards in virtual format: https://www.greetingsfromvalencia.com/parquesnaturales/

The first edition of the “Greetings from…” initiative saw the light in December 2020, after some complicated months, in which social and family relationships had been greatly limited and travel had been restricted. Ten illustrators from the Valencian Community reflected the ten neighborhoods of the city of Valencia from their design in ten postcards designed to pay tribute to those neighborhoods that, as never before, during the confinement became the main space for coexistence. Since then, “Greetings from…” aims to continue making the rich Valencian heritage visible through design.
