Six exhibitions from the “Hoy es mañana” project not to be missed

July is coming and the project “Hoy es mañana” continues, a collaboration between World Design Capital Valencia 2022 and the Association of Art Galleries of the Valencian Community (LAVAC). This initiative gives visibility to the programming of contemporary art galleries in the Valencian Community within the framework of World Design Capital Valencia 2022, being all activities that converge with the values of the New European Bauhaus.

We make a tour of the various exhibitions that you can visit during the month of July. You can also consult the complete program for July and August in the following link.

«Cuando el paisaje estremece»
Antonio Alcaraz
Until July the second
Galería Cànem (Castellón)

Antonio Alcaraz resorts to industrial archeology to map our environment, the space of abandonment. A territory subjected to constant transformations in which architecture shows its greatest fragility among waste and ruins. For this project he resorted to the mining axis of the northern region of Jaén: Linares-La Carolina, whose contemplation is scaled to other places, those of the contemporary condition. Different languages and materials (photography, painting, graphite, metals and plastics) are amalgamated to diagnose the disappearance of industrial heritage.

«Un discurso fuera de contexto»
Eugeni Simó and Ángel Celada
Until July the second
Galería Thema (València)

The exhibition relates the works of Eugeni Simó and Ángel Celada by questioning the forms of contemporary communication. On the one hand, Eugeni Simó resorts to the painting form to present a series of prints that delineate, not without irony, modern architecture as an artifice of communication. On the other hand, Ángel Celada presents a series of collages as a way of sweeping the streets of a city buried by all kinds of images and slogans, in which visual noise covers everything.

«Learning to dream»
Victoria Iranzo, Cristina Ramírez and Gema Quiles
July 5th to September 5th
Jorge López Galería (València)

The exhibition “Learning to dream” presents the recent work of the artists Victoria Iranzo, Cristina Ramírez and Gema Quiles in which, from very different pictorial perspectives, an imaginary space is projected, that of daydreaming. Blurring, changes of scale, repetitions, accidents, dislocations, unfolding and overexposures, are only part of the multiple strategies with which these artists resort to painting to get it out of its conventional framework.

«…de la crisis al riesgo…(2017-2022)»
Mira Bernabéu
Until July 8
Galería Rosas Santos (València)

The artist Mira Bernabéu presents the project “…de la crisis al riesgo…(2017-2022)” (from crisis to risk…(2017-2022)” to address how everyday life becomes a doubly vulnerable and exposed place in the face of certain situations, such as the pandemic. His photographs, as a collage, show a diary in which multiple and disparate references come together. Slogans from the mass media and advertising pamphlets, lottery tickets or shopping receipts, among other resources, make up the collection with which the artist ironically dates a possibility of rebellion in the face of a will decimated by the abrasive effect of communication.

«Roto Abierto»
Mercedes Azpilicueta, Esperanza Collado, Marius Engh, Ana Martínez Fernández, Mónica Mays, Alex Reynolds, Alfredo Rodríguez, Víctor Santamarina, Yann Sérandour, Reme Silvestre, Álvaro Urbano, Kristin Wenzel and Leticia Ybarra.
Until August 30
Galería Luis Adelantado (València)

Based on the idea of entanglement, the exhibition “Roto Abierto” (Broken Open), curated by Cristina Anglada, presents very diverse artists and supports with works also of very different techniques and media (textiles, sculptures, objects, photographs, installations and audiovisual pieces). Reflections on nature, the construction of truth, fiction and reality, the vulnerability of the body, along with the questioning of the processes of creation and the fragility of their narratives, are only part of the multiple avenues of exploration presented in this exhibition.
